I have been a Research Assistant Professor at CET since 2008. Initially, I joined the Iron Ore Stream working on a 2-year industry sponsored project on Archean BIF-hosted, high-grade iron ores in the northern part of the Southern Cross Province. The application of structural geology, alteration mapping, geochemistry and isotope anayses led to the first comprehensive documentation of orogenic-controlled BIF-hosted iron ore deposits in the Yilgarn craton. In 2010-2011, I was working on a "greenfield" exploration project in the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera studying a Porphyry- and orogenic  gold-copper prospect. Since late 2011 I am back in Iron Ore for a two-years project aiming for the understanding of ore genesis in the giant Brockman and Mara Mamba deposits in the Eastern Hamersley (e.g., Mt. Whaleback, Area C).

I did my Geology degree (diploma) in Frankfurt (2001) and my PhD in Heidelberg (2007) mainly on low-grade metamorphic/ structural geology.

Key Research

BIF-hosted Iron Ore, (porphyry Au-Cu, orogenic gold), structural geology, geochemistry (of BIF, iron ore, and igneous rocks), AMS (anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility)
